Our Roots

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought turbulent times of uncertaintly, misinformation, disinformation, and disconnection with science. Despite the unfortunate circumstances occurring across the globe, an inspiring vision took root in the mind of Dr. Raven Baxter, who conceptualized a space where scientific dialogue could be democratized, where barriers to understanding could be dismantled.

This concept was crystallized as STEMbassy, a weekly live webseries that assembled a dynamic team of scientists who met weekly in front of a live audience to discuss current events in science and society, its intersections. STEMbassy sparked enlightening discussions within the virtual audience and beyond.

Dr. Baxter recognized the need further reach and impact to make public engagement with science more accessible, and hands-on opportunities that not only bring the science community together, but expand it. This recognition led to the evolution of a more expansive vision: The Science Haven.

Today, The Science Haven actively works to bring together diverse stakeholders from the science community-scientists, teachers and students, policy experts, media makers, business professionals-to create a vibrant hub for collaborative education and public engagement.
